El ALAL (mapa 19: ciel pommelé) localiza este refrán en Cèlas [Celles-sur-Durolle], punto de encuesta número 3. Con ligeras variaciones (como la forma cièl, quizá francesismo, por cial, con diptongación de la vocal tónica en cèl), lo registra también en Marengue [Maringues], en el mismo departamento (punto de encuesta 5, mapa 19): Cièl pomelat n'es pas de longa durada.  Nótese la presencia de la partícula negativa preverbal ne. Refrán auvernés.
