Comments: 

Atribuido por el DCVB (s. v. ovella) a la localidad mallorquina de Pollença. La grafía de oveia (por el normativo ovella) responde al fenómeno de la "iodització", especie de yeísmo histórico y propio del catalán de las Baleares. Sanchis (1951: 72) recoge una variante próxima con artículo (s') balear (< latín IPSU/IPSA): Gener, generot, | m'has morta s'esquella i s'esquellot. Compárense con este otro testimonio mallorquín: Ah, gener, generot, | m'has morta s'auveia | i s'esquellot.
