El DCVB (s. v. tro) localiza el refrán en Palafrugell y anota como variante: o «aigua a l'Empordà» ['agua en el Ampurdán']. Por su parte, Manent (2002: 45) lo registra en el Prat de Llobregat. Cf. Trons a Mallorca, aigua a la costa; y Trons a Mallorca, aigua del Vallès.
